Donna is a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney with over 11 years of post-qualification experience, supported by a strong foundation in biotechnology and biological sciences.
She has extensive experience managing patent prosecution across multiple jurisdictions, including Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, and Europe. Donna works with global clients across a broad spectrum of life sciences technologies, such as antibodies, nanoparticles, pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals, biotechnology, DNA sequencing, cell and gene therapies, CRISPR-based innovations, protein and formulation chemistry, chemical entities, biofuels, plant varieties, ag-tech, food-tech, and medical devices.
Donna has also overseen the management of a global patent portfolio comprising 14 patent families for an Australian client focused on pharmaceutical nanoparticle technologies.
Before joining Pearce IP, Donna worked at Griffith Hack and Wrays, and gained valuable in-house experience at Teva Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in her career, she held research assistant roles in Australia and Germany, contributing to projects in respiratory medicine, cardiology, and molecular biology.
In addition to her patent expertise, Donna is a qualified Trade Mark Attorney and also provides strategic guidance on Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR), including securing and managing protection.
Donna is passionate about supporting innovation and regularly mentors students and researchers on intellectual property processes. She has contributed as a pro bono mentor with the Sydney branch of the SPARK Oceania initiative, a program dedicated to helping researchers translate health-related innovations into practical products and services that deliver real-world impact.
