On 29 September 2026, Sandoz announced the opening of its new high-volume biosimilar drug substance manufacturing centre in Lendava, Slovenia. The opening is a step towards Sandoz’s recently announced Bio100 goal to have more than 100 biosimilars in its portfolio by 2040.
The Lendava biosimilar drug substance centre will utilise smart automation and process analytical technology to support high-volume drug manufacturing. The technology will be used throughout development through to full-scale drug manufacturing processes.
This is Sandoz’s second major biosimilar facility completed in Slovenia this year, following the opening of its biosimilar development centre in Ljubljana in June 2026. In September 2026, Sandoz also announced plans to build a new biosimilar drug manufacturing facility in Ljubljana, to be located next to the biosimilar development centre. The project will involve a US $300 million investment in disposable fed-batch technology to expand Sandoz’s in-house manufacturing capacity and strengthen end-to-end biosimilar development and manufacturing in Europe.
