Sian Hope

Lawyer

BScLLB(hons)
Bachelor of Laws (with Honours)
Bachelor of Science (Genetics and Molecular Biology)

Sian is a life sciences focussed intellectual property lawyer with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries. Her practice is primarily in patent litigation, but includes non-contentious patent matters, trade mark matters, health regulatory legal matters and consumer law.

Sian is a driven intellectual property lawyer with a background in molecular genetics and experience in both private practice (formerly Davies Collison Cave) and within State Government (NSW Health) where she supported Government through the unprecedented times brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. For a number of years during and after the COVID pandemic, Sian helped shape new policy and regulatory approaches for innovative health and medical technologies in conjunction with government departments, researchers and Australian regulators. Her role within government gave her an understanding of the commercial translation of cutting-edge research and the needs of industry.

Sian’s experience working in medical research and advanced therapeutics policy supports Pearce IP’s clients on policy issues relating to the regulation of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical products in Australia.

Sian is a key litigation team member, where she provides legal and strategic advice, works with experts, and prepares Court documents. She is also the contributing author of Pearce IP’s Bioblast®, a weekly summary of global biosimilar updates.
