Anna joined the patent profession over 20 years ago and is a registered Patent Attorney with extensive experience providing strategic advice and guiding biotechnology and pharmaceutical patents to grant in Australia and New Zealand.

Anna has extensive experience working with local and international clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters.  Anna particularly enjoys solving complex problems, developing strategies and assisting clients in the areas of structural biology, protein engineering, genetics, genomics, antibody therapeutics, peptide and gene-based therapies and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, transgenic plants, vaccine formulations and microbially-driven technologies.

Prior to joining Pearce IP as a Special Counsel, Anna was a Partner and Principal of specialist IP firm Pizzeys Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys.

Anna’s PhD project was focused on characterising the molecular biology and biochemistry of amino acid biosynthesis during grape berry ripening.  The research was carried out at the CRC for Viticulture together with the University of Adelaide in order to investigate the effect of amino acid accumulation in grape berries on the wine fermentation process.

After completing her PhD, Anna’s postdoctoral work involved a proteomics-bases investigation of molecular chaperone assisted protein folding in mammalian and bacterial systems at the Max-Plank Institute for Biochemistry in Munich.
